Getting Help

If serious harm is about to happen to any person, including one's self, call the University Police at 911 (if on campus) or (512) 245-2890 (if off campus), immediately.

During Business Hours (8:00am-5pm):
Students in need of urgent psychological assistance should call the counseling center at (512) 245-2208. There is an On-Call counselor available on weekdays from 8:00am to 5pm at the Counseling Center Office (located in the LBJ Student Center, Room 5-4.1). The On-Call counselor can respond to students in crisis, as well as consult with parents, staff, and faculty.

After Business Hours:
Students in need of urgent psychological assistance should call the Avail Crisis Hotline (Toll Free) at 1-877-466-0660.  This hotline has been set up specifically to service Texas State University and individuals living in Hays County.  When you call this number please inform them that you are a Texas State University Student.  The Avail Crisis Hotline has access to important local information that might be of service to you during your crisis.  This service will also inform (if needed) the Hays County Mobil Crisis Team who will attempt to follow up with your emergency needs as well as offer you referals to the counseling center and other local psychological providers as needed.
