The How-to's of Coping With College Life

Many students seek counseling services to address issues related to anxiety and depression.  Research has shown that cognitive and behavioral strategies can be used to reduce the distress caused by anxiety and depression.  The Counseling Center is offering skill based workshops to share these strategies with students in a comfortable, informative, and accessible way.  Any enrolled Texas State student is welcome to attend all components of these workshops.  Students do not need to be a client of the Counseling Center to attend these workshops.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED and workshops that do not have a minimum of 10 students will be canceled.

This is a four part series.  Attend all or one, whatever you need.
 
Introduction to Basic Stress Management  
·          Learn how to recognize stress and how it effects you.
·          Learn a comprehensive approach (emotional, cognitive and behavioral strategies) to stress reduction.
 
Yoga for the Mind: Transforming Stress
·          Learn how to use EmWave, a simple biofeedback tool, to reduce your stress reactions.
·          Learn an easy three step technique to assist you in obtaining a calm mind.
 
Overcome Test, Math & Performance Anxiety
·          Learn how anxiety negatively impacts academic performance.
·          Learn strategies to assist you in overcoming various forms of academic related anxieties.
 
Mood management: Taking Charge of Feeling Good
 ·          Learn how to recognize distorted thought patterns that contribute to negative emotions.
 ·          Learn how to replace distorted thoughts with ones that are more accurate, believable, and functional.
