Each semester the Counseling Center offers a number of therapy groups. The groups are open and free to currently enrolled Texas State University students. Register by September 18th by scheduling a pre-screening appointment. Each group meets weekly for 8-12 weeks. For information later in the semester on which groups are still open to new members please call.
A pre-screening appointment must be made directly through the Counseling Center in LBJ Student Center 5-4.1 or by calling 512.245.2208.

This is a group for women who have been victims of sexual assault and abuse. Groups members will be able to share their experiences and feelings in an understanding and accepting environment. Goals for the group will be to help members express feelings, reduce guilt and self-blame, develop positive coping strategies, and strengthen self-esteem.

This group is for any students struggling with high levels of anxiety, racing thoughts, generalized worries, or panic attacks that negatively impact your quality of life. This group is a supportive, fun, and relaxing way to increase strategies to overcome anxiety and panic.
This group is for students who have been impacted by dysfunction in their family due to drug, alcohol use, or mental health issues. Members will gain support, understanding of how family patterns impact them, and skills for developing healthier relationships.

This group provides a supportive space for students who are the first in their family to attend college to share successes and challenges; discuss experiences unique to being the first to attend college; and learn strategies for college success.
Making the transition from war zone to the college campus can be stressful and require signficant personal adjustment. This group will consist of veterans hleping veterans to cope with the stress of transition and the demands of college life. The facilitator is a veteran.
It can be empowering to join with others to discuss the impact your sexual identity has on crucial aspects of your life. This group will allow members to share life experiences, examine issues related to sexual identity, define your personal identity, improve your relationships with others, and be part of an inclusive and supportive environment.
