Counseling Center Services

The Counseling Center offers short term individual counseling and group counseling to currently enrolled students at no cost. Individual counseling is designed to focus on short-term goals in order to facilitate students’ college success and adjustment.  The services are not a substitute for weekly, intensive or long term care. In these cases, a student may meet with the Counseling Center Referral Specialist to consult about resources available outside of the university.  For specific information about services, please see the Counseling Center Services page.  If, after reviewing this information, you would like to consult with one of the counselors about your student, please contact the Counseling Center.

Referring Your Student to the Counseling Center

Students must make their own appointments so encourage your student to call or walk in to the Counseling Center to schedule an Initial Consultation appointment.  Click here for details.

If you have concerns about a student, please call us at 512-245-2208 and you can speak to the On-Call counselor.

If your student is a client of the Counseling Center, federal and state law prohibits us from acknowledging that your student is a client or discussing his or her case in any way without specific written permission from your student. This law applies whether or not you referred your student to us or discussed your student's situation with us before he or she became a client. If you wish to follow-up with us or discuss your student after referring him or her to the counseling center, please encourage your student to sign a release of information form. This authorization will allow the counselor to discuss your student’s treatment, progress or areas of concern.
